I probably shouldn't have been surprised. It's just that Answers in Genesis focuses specifically on Young Earth Creationism and is extremely popular in even mainstream evangelical and fundamentalist Christianity, so I guess I didn't expect to see a direct tie - an unqualified mutual endorsement - between it and Vision Forum, perhaps the chief defender of Christian Patriarchy. Are they all connected? I'm starting to think the answer is yes.

So they really are all connected?!
Growing up, my parents received magazines and catalogs from Vision Forum, No Greater Joy, Above Rubies, Answers in Genesis, Focus on the Family, God's World Publications, HSLDA, and more. I sometimes noticed that the various publications cross advertised, and sometimes even reprinted articles, but this video still surprised me.

Holy Conspiracy, Batman! I'm officially freeked out. I DO NOT want these guys "rebuilding the foundation of our country." *shudder*
ReplyDeleteOh... Oh I new it. I knew that this is what we need to worry about, not all that 2012 business! This is scary!
ReplyDeleteI'm not the least bit surprised. Doug Phillips and Ken Ham often speak at the same homeschool conferences. A lot of people think that Vision Forum is on the fringes -- and in some ways, it definitely is -- but people associated with VF and their ilk are more connected to mainstream evangelicalism/fundamentalism than people would think. It is indeed scary.

@ Anonymous (J.B.)-I agree that folks of this ilk are not as on the fringes as some people believe them to be. If I heard him correctly, this was filmed at the Creation Museum in Northern Kentucky, about 20 minutes from my home. This is a popular attraction that brings in many people to the area. There are plans to make an adjoining creation amusement park. There is a lot of power and money associated with creationism.
ReplyDeleteVision Forum produces the Jonathan Park Audio Adventure series which promotes Young Earth Creationism. The series was originally produced by the Institute for Creation Research.
ReplyDeleteThere are currently 7 volumes of Jonathan Park, each with 12 episodes - so, 84 in all.
